Black Mountain College Dossiers No. 4: Ray Johnson - - Publications - Ray Johnson Estate

Black Mountain College Dossiers are a project of the Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center. They are intended to document the work of former students and faculty of the College...whenever possible, these publications will appear in conjunction with exhibitions relating to the artist under discussion."

This volume was the first Black Mountain College Dossier to accompany an exhibition for an outside museum. It was published in conjunction with the exhibition Ray Johnson: Conversations at the Asheville Art Museum in North Carolina from April 24 to June 29, 1997. The exhibition was organized by guest curator Richard Craven, a mail artist and longtime friend and correspondent of Ray Johnson's.

The bulk of this volume consists of the text "With Ray: The Art of Friendship" by William S. Wilson. It also includes "Ray Johnson at Black Mountain College" by Mary Emma Harris and a short section of remembrances of Ray Johnson from fellow BMC students.
